So I went ahead and made me a guitar. I got me a cigar box, I cut me a round hole in the middle of it, take me a little piece of plank, nailed it onto that cigar box, and I got me some screen wire and I made me a bridge back there and raised it up high enough that it would sound inside that little box, and got me a tune out of it. I kept my tune and I played from then on. —Lightnin' Hopkins

Tombstone Diddley Bow?

Yes you read right, a Diddley on a tombstone. Lonnie Pitchford's headstone has a Diddley Bow on it, which oddly enough the stone was paid for by a Mr John Fogerty.

This is a six string diddley bow, same concept as a one stringer but with a full open tuning of your choice to play with.

Hi I haven't made a diddley bow yet.....but I am excited. just trying to make up my mind as to whether I will make a cigar box version or a plank of wood. I have been listening to some crazy stuff on you tube and there are so many different playing styles and preferences. Who could ever imagine so much could be done on just one string.
