These instruments are great examples of how any acoustic instrument should be stressed with tension. There is i fine line between body tension for tone and volume, and what the body can hold up to. The problem with autoharps is there not built to last.
OK remember I'm in no way a musician.... This is just my feeble attempt to play my Autoharp...

OK, I figured out how to tune my Autoharp by ear...
All I did was make sure the CDEFG....You know DO RE ME FA SO... were all in tune and where I have the F# and Gb between the F & G... I just tuned those with a mid sound between the upper and lower tones.
I don't have an actual Autoharp tuning key but I do have the handle for my threading tool which fits perfectly when you tighten it all the way down.
Excuse the dead computer... daughters are hard on em!
Here is a poor vid of my bad tuning
Hope this helps you out... I know it isn't the correct way but in a pinch... It worked for me!
I hit on a few mid and Hi chords and it sounded like HOTEL CALIFORNIA and I found this easy to follow vid

RYTHM BAND INC (RBI) ChromAharP 15 Chord. Purchased @ Flea Market for $15. Having fun with it...Chords are aesy on this thing Haaaaa.
Anyone know of a simple online, downloadable or phone app (CHROMATIC) tuner that listens to the mic and just shows the note being played. Tuning my Autoharp.
I can tune the CDEFGABC by ear but dunno if I got the #/b notes in tune.
THANKS!
