Hey Travis Thanks for the support! Wold Brandi consider putting together a check list of sorts as a guideline for newby fest organizers?
Bethlehem is a very fest friendly city, We host the worlds largest un-gated music fest with 1,000,000 people attending over 10 days. ( gets to be a bit much actually)
The southside film fest (ssff.org) just celebrated its 6th, and i was able to get Maxx Shore's "songs inside the box" screened.
The response was great.
My concern would be that I don't want a handmade music fest swallowed up by the other fests,

B Tal-the grant thing is good to hear...we have a friend that owns an art supply store downtown and she is taking a grant writing cours right now...may be worth exploring. I will say this, I am all for coming to any festivals that are out there and helping set up and put it on. Brandi and I thrive in that kind of environment. She is a machine when it comes to putting on an event...keep me posted!!! Sorry it took me a while to reply.

Seems Boneses and also JoJo are planning on making the trip. JoJo found this place with cabins for reasonable money Canoe Creek State Park.

Count me in! Let's see if we can make this a great Clubhouse gathering.

ok folks, there is some grass roots talk of puting together a gathering in PA. this summer. Maybe 1st week of 08-2010. anyone with an idea please chirp in now . (these things take time)
camping is gonna be the best $ option and if a site or park is agreed on. we can make arrangements for reservations or at least see if the campground is up for a group showing up.
bones is even thinkin of trekkin in...

Thanks Slackjack, galleries are a good source to reach the art friendly community.
This past year the Southside film festival (ssff.org) held its 6th annual film fest. I contacted Max Shores and was able to get a copy of "Songs Inside the Box" to the jury, They loved it and it was screened at thE ssff in june.
In conjunction, I contacted Shane Speal who in turn called up Jerry Thompson and "One eyed Willy" to play a mini concert at a local small venue called "The Wildflower" and displayed about 50 cbg's in my store from local builders and Shane's personal collection.
The response was huge! orders and sales continue...
While @ the wildflower I spoke with a woman who writes grants and has experience appealing to the National Endowment of the Arts, she was Very excited about my plan to start a fest, not only for cbg's but all handmade instruments. and believes it has enough merit to succeed...
performers, vendors, workshops...
So... any input from you and you're wife is welcome!

My wife is an event planner and festivals, fundraisers and social media/marketing are her specialty. We are doing a small showcase of builders here in East TN sometime this year. We are teaming up with an art gallery, keeping it small to see how much buzz/interest we get. If it is successful we will follow it up with a full on convention/festival in the fall.
