Does this count as a 6 string?

It's a hybrid stereo dual scale length instrument with 2 bass strings/dowel neck/no frets/pickup/jack and 4 guitar strings/cherry neck/frets/pickup/jack.  

Washboard body.  

And it's a leftie!

Fantastic stuff Ted. I reckon it does count. It is technically six-strings, besides, many of the big guitar companies have been releasing quirky stuff like that for years. For example, the Fender bass IV.
