Handmade Music Clubhouse

Cigar Box Guitar Headquarters - CBG HQ

My name is John, and I am an addict :P

I work in a music store that specializes in accordion repair, and in my spare time I have decided to build cigar box guitars.  Well mostly anyway.  I am building the boxes myself as I have not been happy with the quality of boxes that I have been finding.  Let me know what ya think.

excellent, love the amp in case!

I cheated on the birds!  The black lines are all carved into the box, then I filled it with epoxy.  Then I used Prismacolor Markers to color the birds, sanded them to get a worn look.  I then painted them with sanding sealer which reacts with the sanded prismacolors nicely. darkening some of it up.

Future plans include spinning my own cones, winding pickups,  and wait for it a carved archtop box.  It really pays to have access to a laser cutter and cnc machine :-P

Beautiful piece of work

Here is a picture of the outside of the case.  The worst part of this whole project was lining the darned case :(

Great case ,what's the timber ?

The case is made from 1/2 and 1/4 birch ply

Awesome John!
