Not the nose. I wanted the skull to face AWAY from the musician and toward the audience. The sound holes would be on the top of the head. This one is fairly much life-sized for a human. I'll be making some tomorrow a bit larger than a tennis ball.
I painted wax resist on everything I DIDN'T want the glaze on, like the eye sockets and nasal cavity. I plugged up all holes with bee's wax. I didn't want to have glaze pooling up inside, and even a bit of glaze can muck up the system.
