it is a 12" wooden drum shell. I made it about 3" tall. There is another piece of the same shell, cut and made shorter ,i.e. smaller diameter, so it fits inside, in the lower half to add strength. this was needed on a six string version I made but not sure it needs it on a 4 string.  it has a shortened guitar neck. ... and sound great. glad you like it .mike
