hey Ted....well.....my plan was to make a 25'' scale, but wanted to put the tuning machines on the tiger wood tailpiece. So, i'm not fond of headless guitars without heads, so i made the individual pieces. Started with the tailpiece. (then 3 fretboards, 1st, I cut the fretboard off an Ibenez stock neck, because i liked the wood, fretboard bowed just a little after gluing). 2nd, the dog ate. 3rd, the laminated fretboard because i was out of nice hardwood. I do that often now). Then, to my dismay, could not find long enough guitar strings to reach the D&G tuning machines on the tail piece. Looked everywhere, GHS were the longest. So, i decided to turn things to my advantage to create an illusion of sorts. The Headstock as far as strings go is "faux", photo of rear attached. Am going to redo the headstock strings, this was a mock up, and make tighter. Anyway, the strings disappear then new ones come up in front of the nut. (as it is, I think it's almost the longest stretch from nut over bridge to tuning machine, just had enough string to properly anchor it). It works, and my original headstock design remained. (good thing after i'd scarfed it in). This build mopped as it went along. (as most do?).
Very cool Daniel! Can you describe what's going on please?
