Welcome to the Clubhouse! How did you hear about us?
From the Cigar Box Guitars group on Facebook.
What instruments are you building or playing?
I've played guitar for over 30 years. I play a little bass and some percussion.
Last year I started making my own percussion instruments and then I discovered the Cigar Box Guitar and decided to make a simple, fretless, version. However, as I began the version got more and more involved and I recently finished my first 3 string CBG. Now I need to learn to play in open G and to use a slide. But he sounds great! I named him after my Dad's nickname "big toro" since gran toro is branded on the cigar box.
saw your ping in the chat room about using Cocobolo for a fret board. very hard wood and needs to be treated before gluing due to the high oil content. be very careful when cutting and sanding as it's dust is highly toxic and will cause respiratory problems big time. hope that helps.
