Hey Jim,  The band saw is great for light to medium stuff like I do but I don't think so great for heavy work or real hard wood.  Works great for me with cedar, cherry and thin oak.  I tried working some carob wood with it and didn't work so great but that's got to be the hardest wood I ever seen.  A kazoo buddy our in Arizona mailed me some.  Beautiful wood.  I found for some of my work the fence is a wee bit tall as I am cutting rather thin and it won't let me lower the blade guide as low as I need.  So what I did was cut a short (1/2") fence and attach it with a couple c-clamps.  I think for the bucks it is well worth it plus I get a 10% retired military discount at Lowes :)  The laser on mine went out within a week but I never use it anyway.  Heck I'm making kazoos not doing surgery LOL.

Hello Jim,  Greetings from another Irishman and welcome to the Clubhouse.  Congrats on your first CGB build.  You sure did a great job, looks and sounds fantastic.  Love the inlayed Irish Coin, very nice personal touch indeed.
