Built my first Diddley Bo on Friday. It has become my NEW favorite musical instrument! Gonna start building more of them, I think. Great way t oget rid of any odd guitar strings you have laying around. :)
Drillbit slipped, so the tuner is slightly to one side. But it still works just fine.
Used a sink drain cover for the soundhole. The bridge is a piece of the wooden block that came in the box. Have no clue what type of wood it is. Also had to slice a chunk of the dowel off so that it would fit around the drain cover and used a self-tapping screw to keep the dowel from rotating.
This one I didn't make as a through neck, but I think I will on the next one. As you can see the string started digging into the lid.
Finally got some spade bits for drilling holes and it makes a world of difference. The hole was a perfect fit for the 1 inch red oak dowel.
Hey Arnold, nice build and they sure are a lot of fun to play. I just finished my first bow the other day and already i'm looking at another build.
