Cigar Box Guitar Headquarters - CBG HQ

On Ted's suggestion, I've decided to make a progress blog of my latest custom guitar. I'm using a Las Cabrillas I've had in my reserve since buying it from Jay. The cone I'm putting in it is actually the first cone I bought from Old Lowe. I've bought several, but somehow my first never made it to a build.

Anyway, I'm using a piece of curly maple for the neck and I'm slotting the peghead and doing putting in a one-off inlay. (Whoever can tell me what it is AND who said it will get a cookie at the fest)

Enjoy, more pics to come.....

Very cool, can't wait to see the progress. I love slotted headstocks and y'all know I love Lowe's cones. Cool box and great f holes.

Thanks for posting this, I'm sure many of us will learn a lot.

Got the headstock overlay almost done. Gonna add the last piece after it's installed. Got the truss rod in too and I'm positioning Ted's pickup. Gettin' right along!

OK, so major changes happened between now and my last post. Changed the neck to Black Walnut, overlayed the headstock with Padauk, attached a Padauk fingerboard, and made an ebony tailpiece. Still have to do my inlay work but I'm drawing it up now.
