Hello Willard very nice to meet you. I am over near Eustis. Man I love your artwork and your instruments! Love the old VW van a whole bunch!!! A buddy and I bumbed around southern Europe in one back in the 70's for a wee bit. I like your idea for the dbows. I still make some with glass jars but kinda scared to sell them because of the danger of breaking with broomewire so I started making a wooden bridge. I like the ideas you use on your dbows. Gave me a couple ideas to try out myself. You have a great week.

I love the one-string bro! The 1st known string inst was traced back to cave drawings. It was 1-string with a long scale. It's just a primal thang I guess.
Thanks for the link to One String Willie. I've seen him on You Tube. Quite a character. Must be something about the kind of person who's into Didley Bows. lol Hope you're having a great summer. I can't wait to get back to Florida so I can concentrate more on building. Going to build a Whamola, too, like Ice Bob had at LowBowFest. Saw a vid with Les Claypool and got that bug, too. So much to do......
Thanks for getting back to me. So far I have been building just the three string CBG's, but I would like to build a Didley Bow. Seeings how you're the master Didley Bow builder, I thought you'd be the one to ask a couple building questions;
First, what is a good scale for a DB?
Second, Which string do you use and what do you tune it to?
Thanks so much for your help.
Hal
Also, when you play, do you prefer a pick or a "beater stick?"

I missed your Red Alligator tune before I posted the last comment. Fantastic tune! What you using for your string? You got one great sound there!
