I sat down to write a holiday song and wrote the saddest darn Christmas song ya ever heard., get out yer hankies.....music is therapy and writing, playing it, well, it is theraputic!! I used to think in my youth, I can't sing the blues! well, as the years went on I felt more inclined to identify with the blues themselves after having a few true blues..., =---back to holidays,,,, it had not even occurred to me...till I sat to hammer sumpin' out,,and so hit me like a ton of bricks, first holidays are coming, without my Mom's presence HERE,....and those of you having lost loved ones, know what I mean....parents especially. So expect a tearjerker....it's ok, they can't all be upbeat;-) Anyone out there up to holiday songs? I'm a bit of a humbug, as I feel it is mostly hype pushed at consumers....back to the basics,,,,I say. Always thought too, that they fall at a hard time of year,.....this year many people out of work, and homes....one thing is certain----compassion is showing it's face, more that it used too.....the playing field leveled..folks who never expected to be in trouble finding themselves there,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Holiday Blues... yeah, why not? Life doesn't wrap up nice and neat like a Hallmark movie, sometimes it's just real, raw, and gritty. It ends up being a time of remembrance and emotions ride the tides. I'll tell you straight up and it's going to sound pathetic, like a personal pity party but it's not, it's just the way it is... 364 days a year, I am fine... but come Christmas Eve and the lonely washes over me something fierce. I could be in a crowd, don't matter, it still comes so I zone into an art project, lay a mosaic or something to ride it out and those cheerful upbeat Christmas songs end up sounding like fantasy. So blues yeah... I could deal with some Christmas Blues. And odds are, a lot of other people can, too.

we'll have to meet up here from some fun exchanges, then.....come that time.....the commercialism get many people down..., I've seen it....happens to me when I cannot get things I'd like to for my kids...and every year we have Americans overseas....it sorta makes you wonder how anyone can feel jolly?......I did not celebrate Christmas due to a Church i attended a short while (won't go into that!) ...it was a good exercise in a getting a better perspective of the madness surrounding the commercial holiday......I like mosaics too Nancy, only barely got my toes wet, realized it is very expensive unless you cut your own glass..!!

Yeah, Some of the sweet Christmases past.... now some of those family and friends and lovers are gone. Long time gone.. Now, new lovers and friends and the blues lifts us up. What a long strange trip it's been.
