Neck design ideas, need input!

Using this old wooden popcorn bowl, top will be some old phonograph records. Not sure what to shape it like or just use an old 6string neck I have. Any unusual shapes come to mind?? Thanks

My thoughts are you'll want a neck-through design.  What kind of neck you use depends on the number of strings.  Just about any standard CBG neck design would work.   I would recommend using at least two record platters and epoxying them together for added strength.  Beyond that if you're making a 3 or 4-stringer, a simple hardwood 1x2 and a fretboard should work fine.  If you need some further sample designs lemme know and I'll post some graphics.

I've used 2 old thick lp's and one newer thinner lp and plan on a brace if not a neck through style.  Not sure if how many strings yet. Thought of a shape like a record player arm or ????

Well, since it won't be visible, doesn't really matter what shape.  The number of strings will definitely make a difference.  You can go with a solid piece of wood straight through, or a glued & screwed brace system.  Both would work equally well.

Now if you're talking about the visible outside part of the neck... you can get real creative there.  And yeah... having a neck and headstock that looks like a record player arm sounds like a good idea.

Neck thru (or neck butting against inside of tail end) for sure, with it only touching the lp on the edges and under the bridge. One might work, but I think if you glued 2 together it would definitely be strong enough.

I glued three lp`s together, but still will brace.  two of the lp`s are the old thick ones.thanks for the ideas all, keep them coming....

Here's an odd one:  you could place a gramophone horn somewhere... either as a small decoration off the end of the tuning head, or a functional one out of the popcorn tub to help broadcast sound acoustically. : )

You can sometimes find these as decorations at hobby shops.  Doesn't have to be "real"; it'll still do the job.
