Piezo Disc + Volume Pot + Jack

I got two piezo disc buildings going on...

The wiring is simple:

Piezo + Volume Pot + Jack.

My question is:

What value should I use for the volume pot? 250K, 500K or 1 Meg?

i used 500k and it worked great but maybe the 1meg would be too bright sounding? not an expert but it works for me.

I thought the same about 1 meg pot value, maybe too bright... I was a bit confused after reading about this in some forums.
