Hey all. Long time no smell. It's been a crazy busy and full year. I've missed working at my half-assed lutherie, and when I saw a community education class on guitar building offered through the school I'm currently studying full-time at, I couldn't pass it up. I'm making a mandolin. It was the instrument that just called to me.

I have the template cut out, and Alan Matta just helped me out with the inside of the forms yesterday. When I have some good pictures, I'll post them.

I will mention that I'm using "The Mandolin Project" and plans for "Mandolin #1" from that book for my build. The book is pretty good, if a little short on specific measurements for body size and a few other places.

I'll keep you all updated. It's good to be back. I've missed you weirdos. It's good to be among my own kind again.

Haven't built a mandolin, but I have built a couple of octave mandolins. Check them out at: http://handmademusic.ning.com/photo/album/listForOwner

Thanks Ted. I like mandos and ukes. Here is an electric mandolin octave 4 string. It was a short scale six string guitar, re-worked it a bit.

Here's a quick pic of the bouzouki. You can sorta see what I'm up to here...
