Has anyone tried fishing line to string up their ukes? How about guitar strings? Please let us know your preferences.

Hey all, been meaning to build a uke for ages now, but scored one from a charity shop for £4.99! It looks as good as new, but not sure if it's a good one or not, as I don't know much about them! The label inside says OZARK model uk.50. Has anyone heard of this make? I can't seem to find any info on Ozark ukes online. I actually thought it had been strung up wrong as I didn't know ukes had a skinny string up top!! It seems to tune up ok, but the tuners wind back a bit too easily and the tension screws in the pegs are a bit rounded out. May have to replace those. It will make a good pattern for a cigar box uke if nothing else :)

Smojo - It ain't pretty, but I jsut finished my first uke with the neck attached to the top of the box. It sounds great.

Gonna build a couple but not sure about neck design. What's an easy but effective way of attaching the neck. Thinking I don't want to use the cbg neck-thru method.

Hi gang, haven't built a Uke yet but I'm all excited to get one in the works. This looks like a good spot to follow and learn something.

Just finishing up the Baritone CBU my son and I have been working on:

I'm pleased with the sound so far, and he is really stoked. Still need to fiddle a bit with the action, likely replacing the nut.

Havent built one yett. But now that im learning to fret its not far off. I bought a Uke about 10 years ago. Think it was part of a costume. Maybe it was a gift.I dont know.Learned a couple chords and put it down. Then I met Shelly Rickey. Ill never see the Uke the same again.
Well I picked mine up again. Im not real fluent on it yett. But she made me realize the magic in those instruments. Im so glad I met her. She's the Queen of the Uke! If you dont know her.Check out her page.

UKULELES! Made three so far... Currently improving one of my earlier attempts to have a better shaped neck and sound better.
