Thanks for the idea about the bridge wire. I did route it from the cavity on the bottom to the bridge. I got luck with the drill bit angle. I think I'll wire it to the saddle with a small bolt from underneath. There is a place on the back where I was going to make the strings go through the body but bought a saddle instead.
Super clean build Paul...I really like it. Sort of partial to lapsteels, myself...wouldn't be too difficult to hide that bridge ground wire though...a pair of holes (one from inside the pup route-out and one from under bridge, meeting in middle underneath the top of the body, perhaps?
It is probably red oak (I got it from a cabinetmaker friend of mine) but I stained it with a golden pecan stain and it gave it a reddish tint and brought out the beautiful grain.
