Cigar Box Guitar Headquarters - CBG HQ

3 String Box Guitar, I recently made. Didn't have a cigar box, so I mad a box out of maple, neck is also maple. Sounds OK but no like what I see on YouTube. Next I want to make a 2-string bass from an 42" Oar. That looked really cool!

The talent on this site is intimidating. Wow, some true masters here. I need to do more research on future builds. Hopefully the 2 string bass I'm currently working on will be an improvement on my my first project

Hi Rick,

I agree with Darryl. Either shorten your scale length, bringing the bridge more to the center of the box (where it will vibrate the most), or electrify the guitar with a single coil pickup between the soundhole and the neck. Shortening the scale length won't help you on this build, as your fret positions would be out of whack. Nut to 12th fret=12th fret to bridge measurements. Or you could put an acoustic guitar pickup IN the soundhole. Good luck. By the way; my first few builds had LONG scale lengths, too.

rick, just trying to help, but i think your scale length, bridge position may be part of the problem, the bridge is on a very solid part of the top and not really able to vibrate much
