This puppy I found on a Dutch site. Today I did a few repairs and adjusted the strings. A four string domra is rare, and finding one in the Netherlands even more. It's a Russian mandolin. The tuning is GDAE, the same tuning as a violin.
I'm going to build one later this year, after finishing my giant balalaika.

Promised to tell the scale length. It's 37 cm
I will have a look later. It's my friends and it's at her place now.
do you know what the scale length of this is ?
Yes, it definately is. It seems that Russian four string are not built anymore, so this was really great luck. And the sound is great. My Russian friend Olga is very pleased with it. Now we have two domra's for our small band. We are going to practise soon. I can play the violin. The left hand is about the same. But playing the right hand making a tremolo with a plectrum is a whole different matter.
My plan to build one myself hasn't changed because of this find. Next month my friend will bring tuners for it from Russia.
WOW! What a lovely instrument! And a nice leather case too.
Great Find.
