Thanks for the compliment, I have been working recently, with materials I have found around, with the exception of tuners. Even the pickups are leftover from years of customizing guitars. The wood for most of my recent guitars came from a large piece of pine (I don't think its basswood). 1 +7/8 thick and just about knot-free. I have found pine to be under-rated, even made one I really like from a 2x4. It has fine sustain, I think a little smoother trebles than say maple, and in this thickness, is strong enough to take the string tension. No budget, cheap build, painted fretboard, Sharpie frets, made to satisfy my needs and in E6 tuning has a full nice sound.
