Cigar Box Guitar Headquarters - CBG HQ

This build will be a dulic-fretted instrument to be given to the cigar shop owner that generously gives me cigar boxes....for FREE!  This box (The Dirty Rat) upon investigation is a box that contained 12 cigars...not many of them were made.  It is a 12-cigar presentation box....and is very special to the cigar shop owner.  He is going to hang it on the wall in the cigar shop.  The dirty rat box is the one in the middle of this picture....rather small in size, therefore, better suited for a "strummer-type" instrument.  Thanks for looking.

NECK SUPPORT AND BOX SUPPORTS FITTED AND GLUED INTO THE BOX.....  also cut out the hole in the front end for the neck to come through.

The neck end of the box had "Dirty Rat" written on the top and bottom lids....the only way I could get that phrase to the tailend of the box...so that it would not be destroyed in the build was this.  I chiseled out the 4 end pieces....from the top and bottom of the lid and bottom...and moved them to the opposite end....NOW Dirty Rat is on the tail end, and will not be disturbed by the build....IMPORTANT since this is what the owner loves about this box...the name and that it is a limited production line of cigars.

THIS IS HOW THE NECK WILL FIT THROUGH THE BOX.......  the end neck pocket will support the neck and also preserves the "Dirty Rat" words on the outside of the box.

This picture will show that I shaved about 1/4 inch off of the top of the headstock...the headstock will be stained blue on the two headstock "ears" to match that band that runs around the tailend of the box.

Okay.... my interpretation of the "Dirty Rat" is that it should have bullets on it....I will use a larger bullet for the bridge...and imbed 3 bullets in the headstock  LIKE THIS....

Next thing.....  I drilled holes and recessed string holes on the underneath side of the guitar.  Strings will go through the bottom, and up through bullets in the top side.

Okay!  I BIT THE BULLET (SO TO SPEAK), and went ahead and wood-burned the holes!  Painted a little burnt umber shading around the bullets...and also painted Burnt Umber paint inside the box to darken the "holes"
