Hi Neal, Barry Faulkner here, about the pickup placement on my lap steel. It's pretty much like a stratocaster, if you put the pickup close to the bridge it will be a very treble sound, about 6" from the bridge should give you a sweet sound. The Hubcap guitar is open backed except I put a piece of plastic ( ice cream lid cut to shape ) to cover the piezo & the socket to protect it, regards Barry
Thanks Frank, yeah bummer my surgery falls on the fest dates. But I`ve been waitin along time to get it done. If I don`t get it now I`ll have to wait 10 more months. Yeah this way it gives you an extra year to build some more awesome guits for next years fest.
Yeah Frank you`ll have an awesome time. First time in a long time for me that my fingers hurt from playing so much....lol. The nite jams are the best, the way the lodge is located we could turn the amps up to 11 !!! It`s cool to chat and look at everyones builds on pic`s,but to actually pick them up and try them out is awesome. Plus to jam out with fellow members is awesome too. With everyones builds sittin on the tables in the lodge it looked great, man there are some awesome builders in here. Besides me your the closets member so be glad to see you at the fest. You`ll have a blast that I know for sure..!!!
